CODE of CONDUCT

Basketball is a game filled with action, excitement and emotional drama.  It’s a sport where the intensity of the fans often exceeds that of the players on the floor.

As parents, family members and friends of the players, we naturally will take exception to presumed bad or missed calls by the referees.  During the excitement of the play it could appear to get a little rough or the opposing teams fans may seem to be un-sportsmanlike.

Please remember this is a youth sports event and the players on the court play the game – not the parents in the stands.

We expect the following conduct from all spectators:

Ø Support your team and your player in a positive way.

Ø Do not use foul language or rude gestures towards either the opposing team, their coaches, their fans, or the referees.

Ø Do not harass the referees; it will result in a technical foul call on your team or your player.

Ø You, as a spectator, can and will be ejected in the event your behavior is determined unacceptable by the referees.  Play will not continue until you have left the game facility.

Ø Do not chant, name call, or stomp your feet while players are shooting free throws.

We expect the following conduct from players:

Ø No player shall be guilty of using unnecessarily rough tactics in the play of the game against the body and person of any opposing player.

Ø No player shall lay a hand upon, push, shove, strike, or threaten to strike an official.

Ø No player shall be guilty of physical attack as an aggressor upon any player, official or spectator.

Ø No player shall use profane, obscene or vulgar language in any manner at any time.

Ø The referee shall not permit any team member to participate if in his/her judgment, items such as a player’s fingernails, hairstyle or certain types of jewelry may constitute a safety concern to themselves or other players.

Ø All eyeglasses must have an eyeglass strap around the head.
